Can I withdraw money from my 401(k) account if I become disabled?

Generally yes, as a "hardship distribution". To receive a hardship distribution for disability the IRS requires that you be unable to "engage in any substantial gainful activity by reason of a medically determinable physical or mental impairment which can be expected to result in death or to be of long-continued and indefinite duration." For more information, see "Distributions - Generally".
